McQueen had always been known by his scandalous shoes. Sarah Burton, the new creative director of the brand and also McQueen’s disciple, had shown that even without the missed designer, the brand can handle with his legacy. The spring summer collection for 2011 was anything but inspiring. Different what McQueen would do, but as near as possible of his own characters. Burton had got amazing shoes, yet not that creative. We could say the pairs were much more wearable than McQueen’s, but we miss the craziness of his singular personality.

Textured whites, loads of buckles and studs around the midsole, gild pointed or cut out details: That was the first part of the runway, with simple but fancy designs. A grey snakeskin also got attention, especially by the splendorous heels and laced up front, which gave a sporty view. But the gild snakeskin were the masterpiece, getting an old aspect the boldness of gold gave a finish to the looks.
Inspired by the contrast of delicateness and rusticity, the theme went bucolic, getting nature forms like leaf shapes or wheat embellishments. Butterflies emerged on beautiful sandals, gaining surreal heels and it has finished with feather ankle boots. The connection between before and after McQueen is undeniable, yet different. But we can keep with some of McQueen’s whisper.
