First part of male elements, the beret has much more history than we judge. Originally worn during XVIII century, the beret made part of the sans-culottes attire, being a mark of munity. It was also the chosen hat to the French resistance movement, and the side you wore it used to say your political opinion too.

It was only during 20’s that the hat started be used by women, having Marlene Dietrich as the beginner. The jaunty actress got the hat from male wardrobe, and that was the beginning of it. Then, it started to gain feminine and glamorous connotation. During 60’s it had became known and trendy among the youth revolutionary and was used from men to woman.
Nowadays it had came back as a trend since a few years, and keep the French (and bold) accent. Despite of having such a grand past, the berets create adorable feminine looks!

The beret is very simple to match: prints, stripes, dresses or trousers, it allows many styles, from the most casual to the most finesse. Bangs are great when you use it aside, but you can also use it in the center. A great tip is investing in braids, the season hit. Short, long, curly or straight, each hair gives a different style to the beret! You can also add a few brooches on it, to get a personal unique model, or even bows. Choose funky tones to warm winter!
