Chanel Spring Summer 2011 Paris Fashion Week

Last Year Marienbad is the plot which had inspired Lagerfeld to his spring summer 2011 collection

Karl Lagerfeld once again had presented a striking collection for Chanel, on October 5th. The brand, which always took advantage of the runway to present an unforgettable collection, this time, has as inspiration the 60’s movie Last Year Marienbad to delight us with some surreal minutes. (Coco Chanel herself had designed some clothes for the film).
The classical monochrome and the orchestra playing from Bjork to The Verve had created an inspiring atmosphere, showing trad sets, mixed up leather, loose dresses, feather hems and elegant hot pants. The new fabrics were the highlights, but it was distressed and perforated having an unfinished feel, as the collection in general.

In Chanel’s garden couldn’t be missing flowers, floating ones, in lightweight fabrics and graphic big design. The dégradé of pink and lilac tones covered a soft dress and a sheer shirt overlapped a slinky, thin stripe blouse. The black and grey’s wave gets the catwalk, sometimes altered by light pink. Loose and relaxed silhouette, mid shin skirts’ lengthen, see though effects, cutout necklines and incredible overwrought laces were just some marvelous pieces of the runway.
The 87 models in the show got the Chane’ls accent, the magic of an forgotten glam and a captivating result.
