The fashion icon and obvious trendsetter Sarah Jessica Parker was chosen to narrate the Fashion Exhibit Metropolitan Museum, which happens once a year. The actress which plays Carrie Bradshaw in the Sex and the City is known by her sartorial taste to dress will provide voiceover narration for the exhibit “The American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity” which will show women’s clothing from 1890 to 1940.

“Because of Sex and the City, she is so much associated with New York and with America, and with using fashion as a way to shape identity,” Andrew Bolton, the institute’s curator, told Women’s Wear Daily Monday.

The preview was yesterday, 04.05 where many celebrities appeared to participate of the gala , which was hosted by Oprah Winfrey, Patrick Robinson of the Gap and Anna Wintour, Editor-in-Chief of Vogue.

The MET announced that the target of the exhibition is show how women’s clothing had developed through the year. The museum said that the exhibit will include many garments never seen in public and will be shared in 6 main themes: “The Heiress”, “The Gibson Girl”, “The Bohemian”, “Suffragists & Patriots”, “The Flapper” (a melindrosa) e “Screen Siren”. More than 80 looks were donated by the Brooklin Museum Costume Collection, with garments by Charles Worth,Chanel, Callot Soeurs, Charles James, Jeanne Lanvin, Jessie Franklin Turner and Madeleine Vionnet.
