Every crazy about shoes must love the designer Manolo Blahnik. He started making shoes during the 70’s, in London and opened his first boutique in Chelsea neighborhood. He made shoes for Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior and John Galliano. Nowadays he gained a fashion status after making shoes for Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette and many references used by Carrie Bradshaw in Sex in the City.

For his Spring Summer collection 2010, Manolo Blahnik had inspiration in 50’s starts, like old Hollywood glamour but not current celebrities. “I hate celebrities,” he revealed to VOGUE.COM. “All those pointless girls – I won’t name names, but you know who I mean. They are ‘famous’. Ridiculous. I like women with style: actresses like Uma Thurman, icons like Audrey Hepburn. I like women with style to wear my shoes.”

The collection brings flats, stunning heels and Oxford model which deligh at the first look. Manolo, as always, plays with shapes and materials, using fabric to cover a few the shoes which has an Italian linen inspiration, honoring old divas as Sophia Loren.

The delicate timeless style is still present in his collection, which brings classical height on heels and adorable shapes with are always in vogue. The fashion, but also classy and worthy are covered with silk materials with wonderful draperies of the fabric and lovely feminine shapes.

Even working in classy timeless shoes, Manolo also can mix it into fashion trends. Suede, leather, cotton and attachments all appears in his new collection. The fetish trend, which has inspired many designers also is seen in Manolo’s shoes, but as always in a subtle discrete look. Even with the fad of the platforms, the designer had chosen the classical shape, using the funky only in a few details.
