Marchesa’s Runway – NY Fashion Week Fall Winter 2010/11
The off-kilter Marchesa had presented its Fall Winter 2010/11 collection at the last 17th, at the Chelsea Art Museum, during the New York Fashion Week. The designers behind the brand, Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig, have transformed the runway in a challenged event. The music and theater’s celebrities, beyond the socialites, were the biggest group of guests and looked like they wanted to be part of the brand: their clothes were so glam as the models’ garments.

The inspiration for that season’s collection is about the amazing singer ( and courtesan) Lola Montez. With an irish origin that multifariousness woman gained fame as dancer in America and Europe, after had invented the “spider” dance. Beyond her career, she also got known by date the composer Franz Liszt and be lover, mainly, of King Ludwing I, from Bavaria, among many other men. She fiished her days making presentations in a circus.

The lovin spirit of Lola Montez is showed in the whole collection, composed by unbelievable glow dresses, with some seduction style. Laces, sculptured organza, slight plumes, chiffon, crepe and silk tule draped let the garments just delightly sweet. Striking colors as tones of red, blue, silver, black and white made all collection amazing, and not even one look can be considered as simples or classical.

It always have that central garment of a runway that takes the breath away of who see. In that collection was the time of a silver mermaid dress, that was the master piece. Thinking about the best red-carpets, the glow with only one strap looks like a real liquid metal when walks, whith an amazing superior part with silver tones embroideries over nude organza.
