"The Hurt Locker" is the major winner in Oscar 2010

A favourite that desapoited, and an unlikely that is recognized. That’s was the night that acclaimed “The Hurt Locker”, by Kathryn Bigelow like the best movie instead of the succeful “Avatar”, directed by James Cameron. The biggest tickets success in the last few years, even with a 500 million dollars invested couldn’t win from the good result of the movie directed by the James’ ex wife.

Strong emotions: That’s what felt the cast of “The Hurt Locker”, that gained nothing less than 6 stautets, among the 9 nominess for: Best Picture, Directing, Writing (Original Screenplay), Film Editing and Sound Mixing. Without counting that is the first time in the Hollwood’s Industry that a woman conquer one of the most important awards of the academy: The Best Directing.

“Avatar” that also had nine nominess, gained only three, being those: best art direction, photography and visual effects. As we can see, the academy’s cast had considered the film “The Hurt Locker”, as a masterpiece in critical and visual art, however, unable to exceed the technique quality and theplot of the film that talks about the Iraq and Afghanistan war.

But, the Oscar had another emotions, speacially the award for the best actriss that was conquered by Sandra Bullock, with “The Blind side”. For Bullock that was a huge victory, after twenty years of career. She received the award thanking her family and praising all the other nominess actresses.

Detach also for the presence of Oprah Winfrey, that had expressed an unconditional support for the best actress nominess, Gabbourey Sidibe, the “Precious”, that even didn’t gaining a statue conquered all of us with carism and talent.
Jeff Bridges, the country singer from “Crazy Heart”, received the awards by Kate Winslet’s hands (which won the award of best actress in 2009) , and with rapture thanks the academy members and friends that share the awards conquer during the night.

The Awards

The Oscar 201 awards started with the category “Actor in a Supporting Role”, presented by Penelope Cruz and conquered by Chistoph Waitz, in Inglorious Bastards, by Quentin Tarantino.

Following, the Best Feature Film was presented By Cameron Diaz and Steve Carell. A fun and sweet feature had presented the nominees: “Coraline”, “Fantastic Mr. Fox”, “The Princess and the Frog”, “The secret of Kells” and the night’s winner, “Up“. For Best Music, Amanda Seinfeld and Miley Cyrus gave the award for Jeff Bridges, with the song “The weary kind”, from “Crazy Heart”.

Robert Downey Jr. (Sherlock Holmes) and Tina Fey were the responsable to name the winner for Best Writing (Original Screenplay), that “The Hurt Locker” took the award for. Mark Boal, when received the awards, had dedicated the victory to the army in Iraq and Afghanistan. In the category Short Film (Animated) the victory stayed with “Logorama”, the french movie of the argentine Niclas Schmerkin.

The best Writing (Adapted Screenplay) was conquered by Precious, a suprise since everyone was expecting the award for “Up in the Air”. The history is about a 16 years old girl, black, fat, illiterate in the yankee Harlem during the 80’s. The movie also took the awards for Actress in a Supporting Role, for the actriss Mon’ Nique, that emotinally say that what matter is the development, not the politics.
The Avatar saga started winning with the category of Best Art Direction, following the awards, Cinematography and Visual Effects. And that’s all James Cameron could win during the Oscar’s night.

The fashion designer Tom Ford, came allong with Sara Jessica Parker, for present “The young Victoria”, directed by Jean-Marc Vallée, like the winner movie for Costume Design, giving the award to Sandy Powell, one of the best costume designes since ages. She worked with “Shakespeare in Love” and “The Departed”.

The other awards were Sound Mixing for “The Hurt Locker”, Sound Editing, also for “The Hurt Locker”, Music (Original Score) for Up, Documentary Feature for “The Cove”, Foregn Language Film for the argentine “El secreto de sus ojos” (a suprise for evryone who expected the “The white ribbon”as winner) and Directing to Kathryn Bigelow, of “The Hurt Locker”.

The night also counted with many honners, among the one that remembered the work of John Hughes, the famous director of “Ferris Bueller's Day Off” and “Home Alone”, which dead in 2009.

Horror movies like “Shark”, “Psicosy”, “The Shining”, “Panic” , “Dracula”, “The Sixth Sense”, The Exocist” and “The Stuff” were also remebered for a presentation by Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner, from "Twilight". Michael Jackson was honner too, by a presentation made by Demi Moore.

That was the Oscar’s night, with surprises and honeers. A night that had show that a good script is still better than technological effects. “The Hurt Locker” exceeds all the expectations and win the night.
